Dear Parents ,

I would like to give you and your children a very warm welcome to Sotogrande International School.

In this section you will find information about key dates and other details, all of which I hope will make your first few days at SIS as easy as possible!

Sotogrande International School (SIS) is a day and boarding school, which follows the IB programme from 3-18 years. Home to a passionate learning community who inspire and encourage learning and intercultural understanding, promoting education as a force for good in the world. With more than 900 children from over 44 countries, SIS provides a challenging, nurturing and academically rigorous International Education.

Select your School Year

Early Childhood 1 

School will start on Friday 6th September for our Early Childhood 1 students. In the next few weeks you will receive an email with details of your individual appointment with your child’s new class teacher. These meetings will be held on 4th and 5th September. We look forward to meeting and welcoming you all to Sotogrande International School.

Early Childhood 2 – PYP Year 6

Tuesday 3rd September – New Students and Parents Welcome Morning (school uniform not required to be worn)

10:00 Primary parents and students arrive at school.  Collect Personal Access Card if not already collected.
10:30 – 11:00 Presentation in the courtyard
11:00 Parents and students visit classrooms with their year group teachers and Parent Ambassadors (PA)

14:30 End of the Welcome Day

The event will be hosted by members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Parent Ambassadors (PA), Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and Advisory Board

MYP Year 1 – MYP Year 5

Boarding House

Mr Debenham is looking forward to welcoming your children to the Boarding House. Students should arrive on Tuesday 3rd September from 09:30am – 8:00pm.

Please ensure all students remember to bring a copy of their NIE (where applicable) and come with all their uniform labelled.

If you are not bringing your child to the Boarding House yourself, please send the flight details for your child to boarding@sis.gl and transport will be arranged from the airport to the Boarding House.

Laptops, iPads and Calculators

 

We would recommend children starting in PYP Year 3 and PYP Year 4 have access to an iPad at home. 

Students joining PYP Year 5 and PYP Year 6 are required to ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD), an iPad in a cover. Once in school, the IT team will configure the device ready to be used in the classroom. Please find in the link to promotion by Rossellimac for SIS students. 

Students joining MYP Year 1 to Diploma 2/Alevel will be required to ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD), we highly recommend a MacAir laptop. Please find in the link to the promotion by Rossellimac for SIS students. 

Diploma students will be required to have the recommended appropriate Graphic Calculator as suggested by the IB.

Admissions Department

We kindly ask you to bring any outstanding documents with you as well as a copy of your child’s latest school reports.

You are responsible for informing the school of any change in personal information including NIE/DNI, passport, address, phone, email bank information and emergency contact details.

Foreigners’ Identity number (NIE):

Families with Spanish residency should deliver a copy of their NIE. All students from MYP Year 3 to Diploma 2/Alevels are required to have a NIE number by law. Please send a copy of your NIE number to admissions@sis.gl.

Personalised Access Card

In order to gain access to the SIS campus, all parents/guardians must carry a ‘Personalised Access Card’. This card allows our security team to ensure only authorised personnel can come into school. Located at the security hut at the entrance to the school there are card readers where you are required to swipe in/out as you enter/leave SIS.

The card contains your full name as well as a passport style photo of you and must be issued prior to joining SIS.

If you have already sent you photographs your cards will be ready to collect from the security hut at the entrance to SIS  w/c 26th August between 9 am and 2 pm.

If you are still to send us your photographs we would be grateful if you could fill in the attached form, with the name and photograph (a selfie taken with a mobile phone is perfect), of the person who will be responsible for collecting your child(ren) from school, you will need to complete a form for every card you need.

Wednesday 4th September at 8.45am – First day of term

Primary School Students should go directly to their buildings where their teachers will be waiting outside.

All Secondary Students should go to the cantina where they will be met by the Pastoral Leaders and taken to their first lesson.

  • The Admissions Department will be open during summer holiday from 9.00am – 2.00pm.
