20th May 2020
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This might have been a short week, but Wow it has been packed! On Monday we held a series of meetings with Nick Wergan, Education Director of Inspired for Europe. He met with the primary and secondary Student Council, as well as with the Advisory Panel, ahead of the termly board meeting on Tuesday. The meetings provide vital opportunities for all stakeholders to communicate with Inspired. The board meeting was deeply successful.
On Tuesday, Nick and I also had the pleasure of meeting with some of the P6 students as they prepared for their P6 exhibition. The standard of work, level of confidence and pride that our students showed was remarkable. Today the Exhibition was attended by the parents. Thank you to all the parents who joined in. I would like to congratulate all of P6 for their commitment and engagement in the P6 exhibition. Thank you to the P6 Teaching Team and all the teachers and assistants who have worked so hard in supporting and mentoring our students. Well done P6. You should be extremely proud of yourselves.
This week, I have also attended many webinars hosted by heads of schools who have already reopened in other parts of the world. We were all very excited about the possibility of opening on Monday May 25th for those children aged 6 and under. However, the lastest communications from the Andalusian autonomous community suggest that this might not be possible. We will as always keep you well posted on any developments.
The exercise of dreaming about a reopening was a powerful process to go through. We have started a deep clean of the school. We have collected medical records from staff and families who might have returned to school and started the procedure of contact tracing. We also developed the protocol for drop off and collection, heightening our temperature checks at both stages. Attending the webinars allowed us to draw the best ideas from other schools and pull together the safest and most efficient plan. Whilst this has been initially developed for those children under 6, we are now turning our attention to planning for opening in September. These are exciting times.
Finally, I would like to wish you a wonderful long weekend and look forward to welcoming you back for the final run to the end of term.
