Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week has seen the start of our virtual sports days, with Primary leading the way. It was lovely to be able to join each year group and to see them participate in their activities. Thank you to the PE and primary teams for taking the time to organise this wonderful event! Next week, we will see the M1 – M3 sports day which will be a truly exciting finale of the house competitions. We eagerly await to see which team will win the house cup this year! All will be announced at the end of year celebration assembly!
El Corte Ingles has just published our uniform for September on their website. Please be mindful of this when planning your return to school for September. I would suggest making purchases in early August to ensure you have the correct attire for September. There will be one major change in September aimed to reduce the need for the use of changing rooms and enclosed spaces: all students will need to come to school in PE kit on the day they have PE. You will need to bear this in mind when purchasing uniform. I would strongly recommend that students bring two PE T-shirts when they have PE.
This week we received two sets of positive news from the Spanish Government that I would like to share with you. The first is that we will be able to open our premises for summer camps. The team at SIS and fundamentals are very excited and will be sending out material to those of you who have expressed interest. If you are interested, please complete this form.
The second wave of good news is that on Tuesday, the Spanish Government announced that we would be able to open for all students in September, as long as social distancing of 1.5m is respected. On Wednesday, Mr Stone, Mrs Butler, Mr Sánchez and I spent the day in school mapping out each classroom and assessing the possibility of the prescribed 1.5 social distancing. I am delighted to inform you that we can fully accommodate all students from September! The prospect of returning to face to face school is now looking much clearer.
Finally, I would like to invite you all to join us in a virtual assembly on the last day of the academic year, Wednesday June 17th, at 10 am. There will be no live lessons on this day. The assembly – due to be an hour long – will be a celebration of the achievements of your children, with prize winners announced, a few speeches and music in true SIS style. You will receive a link to join as a family. The link will become active at 10 am on June 17th.
Nick Wergan, Inspired Education Director will also be joining us, along with all staff from their homes!
I wish you a wonderful weekend.
