Dear Parents and Guardians,
Happy New Year! I hope the break has been relaxing and has enabled you and your families to connect and enjoy some quality time. I really enjoyed welcoming you all back on Wednesday.
Three years ago, we created an Advisory Panel to ensure that parents, students and staff have their views and thoughts about operational and strategic matters heard efficiently. We use this feedback to help the school to make informed decisions. More recently, it has also provided an opportunity to meet with board members of Inspired.
Representing the whole school community and consisting of an elected body of parents, staff and students, the Advisory Panel meets approximately twice per term. These meetings are used for the school to share information and consult on issues about operational and strategic matters.
The Panel consists of three elected parental positions, each of whom resides in situ for three years. At Christmas, one of our elected parents left the community leaving a vacancy to join the panel.
To be eligible for the role, you must have had children attending SIS for two years or more, be able to consider stakeholders views over your own and be prepared to meet with the panel twice a month.
If you are interested in becoming part of the panel, we encourage you to read the attached job description and contact our current parent members to find out more about the role.
The application process for interested parties is:
- An expression of interest should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org with Advisory Panel in the subject with your name and surname clearly defined, along with the year group of your child(ren). Please note, before submitting your expression of interest you must ensure that you have the support of at least ten people in the community as the final step is a community vote.
- All interested parties will be invited to attend a meeting on Wednesday 15th January at 9 am to meet with members of the existing Advisory Panel.
- A written statement (1 paragraph) in English (and translated into Spanish) should be submitted detailing why you should be elected on to the Advisory Panel, what skill sets you will bring and how you will distinguish between personal views and those of the community. These details should be emailed to email@example.com by Wednesday 22nd January at 4 pm together with a recent photo.
- On Friday 24th January we will open the vote to the community for one week.
We will announce the newly elected Advisory Panel member in the monthly newsletter on Friday 31st January.
I look forward to receiving your expressions of interest and wish you a wonderful weekend.
