SIS ACCREDITATION & AUTHORISATION
SIS is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS), by New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC), by the Spanish Ministerio de Educación y Cultura and is authorised as an IB World School by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO). SIS is affiliated to the Mediterranean Association of International Schools (MAIS), the Spanish Council of Private Schools (ACADE) and is a full member of the European Council of International School (ECIS).
This provides independent, external validation of the quality of education at SIS. It also allows us to offer a wide range of accredited International, British, American and Spanish programmes to our diverse student population.

IB WORLD SCHOOL
COUNCIL OF INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS (CIS)
The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) is a recognized leader in the field of international education, encouraging students to be active and enquiring learners, well-rounded individuals and engaged world citizens.
In August 2000, the school was authorised by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) to offer the IB Diploma. The authorisation was renewed in June 2010 following a further accreditation visit and approval.
In October 2005, the school was authorised to offer the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). It offers this exciting international curriculum throughout the primary school.
CIS is a not-for-profit association of schools and post-secondary institutions working collaboratively for the continuous improvement of international education. The organisation is responsible for accrediting educational institutions like ours and in collaboration with other similar bodies, sets global standards and expectations for non-state schools in every country of the world. They also offer professional development opportunities for school staffs and can also assist in recruitment.
NEW ENGLAND ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES
EUROPEAN COUNCIL OF INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS (ECIS)
The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) is USA’s oldest accrediting association whose mission is the establishment and maintenance of high standards for all levels of education, from pre-K to the doctoral level.
NEASC serves more than 2,000 public and independent schools, colleges and universities in the six states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont and nearly 150 American/international schools in more than sixty nations worldwide.
SIS is a member of the European Council for International Schools (ECIS).
ECIS schools are committed to the promotion of an international outlook amongst all members of their communities. Their staff and students are characterised by knowledge of, and respect for, the beliefs and values of their own and other cultures and by the willingness to acknowledge the existence and necessity of a range of perspectives. ECIS members and affiliate members serve and support member schools through an ongoing process of professional renewal characterized and facilitated by networking, research, sharing and collegiality.

ASOCIACIÓN DE CENTROS AUTÓNOMOS DE ENSEÑANZA PRIVADA (ACADE)
SIS is a member of the Spanish association of independent private schools, Asociación de Centros Autónomos de Enseñanza Privada, (ACADE). ACADE was formed in 1978 as an independent body to support and promote private education in Spain. Through this organisation we maintain our currency with the ever-changing educational landscape within Spain and with the frequent changes in legislation that affect Spanish Nationals.
SIS is a member of The National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), a nonprofit membership association that provides services to more than 1,700 schools and associations of schools in the United States and abroad, including 1,400 independent private K-12 schools in the U.S. The organisation is particularly strong in laying down sound and effective governance practices in schools and organises, in collaboration with CIS, governance workshops for School Board members and Head Teachers
SPANISH AUTHORISATION AND CONVALIDATION
THE BOARDING SCHOOLS’ ASSOCIATION (BSA)
SIS is authorised by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science (MEC), under ministerial Order 2/9/83, and later under the Ley organica de educacción (LOE) to offer a convalidated programme of Spanish Language and Social Studies to Spanish students from P2 to D2 (1º Primaria to 2º Bachillerato.)
The Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA) exists to ‘champion boarding excellence and provide worldwide boarding support’.
Founded in 1965, the BSA is the world’s largest provider of boarding support services and currently represents more than 600 independent and state boarding schools in the UK and overseas. BSA’s members directly provide outstanding pastoral care to some 77,000 boarding students in the UK and thousands more in 33 other countries.
Our services include training boarding staff through the BSA Academy professional development pathway, government relations, communications, media, publications, conferences, events and consultancy.
