Dear Parents and Guardians,
I would like to thank all parents who attended our P1 reading and writing workshop on Tuesday and the “meet the primary leadership team” on Wednesday. These opportunities help you to get to know our approach to education and learn about our structure to enhance the communications process.
Our D2 students have spend the second half of this week focusing on their internal assessment work. On Wednesday they spent the day focusing on their Science internal assessments with a day off timetable. Thursday was a specific focus on TOK and Friday on Language and Literature. These opportunities allow students the time and space to focus on key components of particular subjects and are very powerful. Thank you to staff firstly for arranging these events and secondly for their planning and coordination.
This week has been dominated by the MYP and Diploma 1 bonding trips which started yesterday. The students and staff have been busy preparing and planning for the first overnight trip of the year. The purpose of which is for students, advisors and pastoral leaders to spend time together, to learn from each other, to understand each others’ strengths and skill sets as they embark on a series of challenges and cultural experiences around Andalucía. We look forward to welcoming them back today. I would like to express my thanks to all staff who have given their time freely to take part in this experience.
On Thursday we had the opening ceremony for SOTO MUN, the very first model United Nations conference held at our school that was organized, planned and run by students. Students from schools along the coast spent time Thursday and Friday in our school and will continue to work over the weekend. An official write up will follow next week.
Finally I would like to draw your attention to our first community event next Friday, the Back to School party, organized and coordinated by the PTA! This year’s musical performers are already practising in anticipation of the event. I am very much looking forward to seeing you all on Friday 28th September. The event runs from 7pm until 10pm. I would like to remind you that students aged M1 and below MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times. Thanks in advance for your help and support.
I wish you a wonderful weekend, best wishes.

This week saw a fantastic activity outside the classroom, where the children were able to paint on an unusual surface, a transparent sheet; this allowed them to appreciate the different colours from the effect, caused by the light passing through the film. This in turn led them to explore other textures, temperatures and colours, while sharing their sensations with the group.
