Dear Parents and Guardians,
Last Friday we held the M5 Personal Project assessment day. The event was a wonderful day where students spent time presenting their products to teachers from across our school. The range and variety of products was really impressive and we look forward to inviting you to the Personal Project exhibition on March 29th. I would like to congratulate the students who really stepped up to the challenge, who used the feedback and advice of supervisors and who embraced this opportunity to its fullest. I would also like to thank all of the supervisors, who have supported our students so far on this journey. We wish our M5 students the best of luck as they make progress towards completing their final personal project reports.
This week on Tuesday we hosted our new parents coffee morning. This small event was a lovely way for new families to meet each other, make social connections and meet the school leadership team. Welcome to our new friends and thank you for attending this brief meeting.
Today we hosted the Middle Years parent teacher conferences. I would like to thank parents for attending this critical day. It is a wonderful way to get feedback, meet the people who inspire your children and discuss worries, concerns or to say thank you. I hope that this time has given you the opportunity to discuss new targets with students and staff and encourage a purposeful focus for the rest of the academic year.
Finally I would like to politely request that if you have not yet paid the second term’s fees that you do so immediately. We, like many companies, function on income; when we do not have income we struggle to educate your children to the highest level. Your support to settle fees at the agreed time ensures that all our time can be focused on giving your children an exceptional educational experience. Thank you for working with us to enable this to happen.
I wish you a wonderful weekend.

Message from the Catering Manager, José Miguel Ledesma
The school canteen is an opportunity for children to acquire healthy eating habits and develop optimal attitudes towards food and nutrition to last throughout their lives; lunch time is a privileged opportunity to develop this food education in coordination with the family, the school and the community. We are actively seeking the children’s participation, as far as possible, in selecting together with them the healthy foods that will be offered as part of our Cantina menus. To start this project, after receiving a nutrition talk by our nutritionist, the children were asked to suggest healthy menus according to their tastes. After a screening by the kitchen team, we have selected some different menus that will be offered throughout this term; the first day being this Thursday 17/01 with the dish provided by María Rato Vera and Álvaro Rey Gallego of P5 who gave us their recipe for noodles with clams.
Next week will be the first Dreaming Dragons pop up of 2019! Please come by and support the students’ social enterprise initiative and shop mindfully! Friday 25th January, 3.30-4.15pm in the patio behind the Cervantes and Picasso buildings.

Active learning through messy play!
We had great fun discovering new textures and consistencies while playing with foam on the light table as we continue exploring and learning more about winter.
Sensory play fosters the child’s curiosity and imagination, and practical experimentation practises good concentration skills.

P1/P2 Lunchtime Activities
This week P1 and P2 students should have received the information and sign up sheets for this term’s lunchtime clubs. Please return completed form to your child’s homeroom teacher as soon as possible.
Congratulations to P6 student Katrina who finished in 3rd place in the US Kids Holiday Classic tournament at PGA National Palm Gardens during the Christmas break. In a very strong field of international players Katrina came through as the best European player in her age group.
Music and movement lessons are a great opportunity for children to express themselves while learning about rhythm and tempo. Do our students enjoy the classes? These images speak for themselves!
Primary class sites: a reminder
As we start the new term I would like to remind parents about the importance of accessing the class Google sites. These are updated every week and are the main platform where weekly blogs are posted and important curriculum and school information will be shared.
P3/P4 Expressive Arts Production
This Spring Term P3 and P4 will be performing the play “Space Pirates.” This is the first time this play has been performed by a school in Spain!
Space Pirates is a Broadway inspired musical about accepting each other’s differences and singularities with lots of plot twists, solos, rich musical arrangements and child friendly speaking parts.
More than 40 students auditioned for the main cast. Thank you to all the students who did audition and well done to those who were selected.
The production will be held in the school theatre on the 1st and 2nd April.
