Dear Parents and guardians,
With a long weekend to look forward to, this newsletter is purposely being kept short. This week has been such a delight with warmth and sunshine returning, there has been a much-needed addition of vitamin D for all. Classes have taken place outside, trousers have been swapped for shorts again and the PTA has dressed our reception area ready for Christmas!
I would like to draw your attention to three events that are pending after the long-weekend. Firstly there will be a parent workshop on creating Teen projects, hosted by Antonia Behan at our Boarding house on Wednesday 12th. For more details, please see below.
Secondly the PTA Christmas Market will take place at Soto Blue on Saturday 15th December. Early whispers suggest there is a VIP parking space to be auctioned off!
Finally, we have a concert from B-Vocal on Monday 17th December from 7.30pm at the Odeon Multicines in the Bay Plaza Shopping Mall in Palmones. Tickets, price 5€, are available from the school reception.
I wish you a wonderful long weekend.
BVocal music event
As members of the school community we have just been given the opportunity, sponsored by Land Rover, to experience an amazing concert. On Monday 17th December, BVocal, a world-renowned a cappella group, will be running a workshop for some of our secondary students. In the evening, BVocal will be performing a Christmas concert just for us at Odeon Multicines, in Palmones! The event will start at 7.30pm and end at 9pm. Tickets costing 5€ each are available from reception with all profits going to The Kindred Project.
Parent Workshop – Creating Teen Social Projects
Parents, please come along to a workshop to collaborate on initiating more social activities for teenagers in Sotogrande. Coaching Psychologist, Antonia Behan, has been working with our students and the local community to identify what teens want, through her social project: www.sotolife.org
In part one of this workshop, Antonia will present the research findings and invite you to further brainstorm ideas. In part two, Antonia will ask for your vote on 2-3 project ideas, and invite some of you to volunteer to help initiate the first projects.
By the end of this workshop, the intention is that we have a clear vision, and first action step on starting these projects. Come along and make a positive difference!
Date: Wednesday December 12th
Location: The Boarding House
This workshop is free. Your time donated to support growing any of the projects will be very much appreciated.
You can learn more about the free space from which to unite our community and foster collaborative care, support and social projects here: www.sotolife.org
It’s the most wonderful time of the year..

We look forward to celebrating with you!
8th December – Switching on the Christmas lights, Sotogrande Marina
This lovely event will be sure to get you into the festive mood with the big switch on at 7pm and the collaboration of la Marina restaurants and Jugarnia, followed by carols and the opening of the Santa’s Grotto.
SIS Theatre Festival – Thursday 13th December at 6pm in theatre
On the 13th of December at 6pm the DP Theatre students will be presenting three 15 minute devised performances as part of their course. The performances will be thoroughly engaging and our students will yet again be demonstrating their considerable skill through these highly original and provocative pieces. These pieces will also be entered for LAMDA Bronze and Gold award examinations with the additional benefit of gaining extra UCAS points for UK university applications. This is a DP Theatre exam performance and the production has been judged suitable for audiences of M4 age and older. Please do come along to both support and enjoy! (Free entrance)
SIS PTA Christmas Market, 15th December 12-4pm, Ribera Del Marlin, Sotogrande
There are now over 20 stalls booked to showcase at the market with Christmas treats, gifts, unique products and much, much more.
Raffle tickets for our Grand Christmas Raffle will be on sale after the long weekend. As in previous years, there are some truly outstanding prizes.
This year’s spectacular is the V.I.P. Premier Parking Space Auction for exclusive use of a parking place, directly outside the school gates, until the end of the school year.
Register your bid between 9am on Monday 3rd December and 10pm on Friday 14th. After this, you will be able to make final bids at the Christmas Market, where the winner will be announced at the end of the festivities.
Lastly please remember Friday 14th December is a non-uniform day in exchange for a gift for the Tombola. There will be a collection point at the school gate in the morning. Please leave gifts unwrapped, so they can be properly sorted into those for adults and those for children.
