The IB MYP is a balanced and academically rigorous programme of international education designed for students aged 11 to 16, a period which is a particularly critical phase of personal and intellectual development. The programme aims to develop active learners and internationally minded young people who can empathize with others and pursue lives of purpose and meaning. It is a concept-driven and inquiry-based curriculum, which encourages students to make practical connections and the real world.
Learning how to learn and how to evaluate information critically is as important as learning information. Students are encouraged to inquire into a wide range of issues and ideas of significance locally, nationally and globally. The result is young people who are creative, critical and reflective thinkers.
The MYP builds on the knowledge, skills and attitudes developed in the Primary School (the IB Primary Years Programme) and prepares students for entry to the demanding requirements of the two-year IB Diploma Programme.
For a further information on how we embrace the MYP at Sotogrande International School please see our MYP Handbook
For information on study choices in the final two years of the MYP see our Flexible Pathways Handbook
Students take action when they apply what they are learning in the classroom and beyond. IB learners strive to be caring members of the community who demonstrate a commitment to service making a positive difference to the lives of others and to the environment. Read our Service as Action Handbook to find out more.
