SIS is delighted to announce the launch of an exciting new elite swimming programme aimed at swimmers who wish to focus on their sporting commitments without compromising on academic success.

The SIS Swimming Academy will build on the school’s existing curricular and extra-curricular swimming programmes to develop a high performance pathway which will open up a whole wealth of opportunities for its athletes.
SIS already offers Learn to Swim and Junior Squad programmes during term-time as well as Intensive Swim Camps throughout the school holidays. Now, in addition to this, we can offer swimmers an extensive training schedule which will provide twice daily sessions up to 6 days a week. Coupled with the exceptional coaching and specialist facilities available at SIS, this will provide athletes with the environment they need to develop and maximise their potential and enable them to succeed at the very highest level.

The common man asks, ‘what’s in it for me?’ The enlightened man asks, ‘how can I help?’ This is exactly what Sam Weaver, the wonderful, committed, and driven swim coach at Sotogrande International School, did, she helped my son, who was pool less, club less and coach less due to the disruption of Covid 19.

I believe Sam to be a swim coach who, with a holistic approach will help develop the talents of her swimmers and given her expertise and passion for the sport I can only imagine where she will lead the soon to launch Elite Swim Programme at SIS. Sam is committed to providing individual attention to her swimmers with a focus on technique in order to drive home times as a result of stroke efficiency.

We are sincerely grateful to Sam and SIS for moving the mountain in our path.

Important Info:

As a co-educational boarding school in Sotogrande, we are in the unique position of being able to offer a full academic programme alongside high-performance swimming and our athletes can benefit from warm-weather training all-year round. Our on-site facilities include a 6 lane 25 metre heated, covered pool and adjacent gymnasium so the transition from training to classroom is only a few steps.

Swimmers’ nutritional needs are fully catered for with our Cantina and Chiringuito offering a selection of healthy meals and snacks throughout the day. Our younger students (years 7 to 11) can follow a full MYP and our Diploma students have the option of a full IB programme or the IB Courses programme. Our swim training schedule wraps seamlessly around this with no compromise on academics or performance and will be one of the most comprehensive swim programmes available in a Spanish school.
