D1 History Trip: Report from students: The IB History trip to London was very stimulating. On the first day we visited the Imperial War Museum and looked at the various exhibits and were particularly moved by the holocaust exhibition. We then went to the Westminster Reading Rooms and the academic book shop to research our internal assessments. Whilst walking to the book shop we stopped in Leicester Square and saw Michael Caine. In the evening we went to the cinema and watched Avatar in 3D. The next day we visited the British Museum and after lunch we went to look at some of the main historic sites in London ending up at the Houses of Parliament. On Wednesday we spent the day attending lectures on the History of the USSR, from a series of University History professors from the UK and US. This was particularly useful for the higher level students as they were able to give us new historiography based on the opening up of Soviet archives within the USSR which will alter all our perceptions of events written in text books. 6.
