SIS gains two prestigious awards
On Friday 20 November, David Batten represented SIS at the European Council of International School’s (ECIS) Conference in Hamburg to receive two very prestigious awards. In the opening ceremony of the conference, SIS was recognised for its contributions to international education and community service through the two awards: ‘ECIS Outreach Award’ and ‘Peter Ustinov Foundation Award´.
In particular, following a submission of a report on our activities in Goa, the European Council of International Schools (ECIS) Outreach Committee agreed to support the Goa project by donating GBP2,370 (€2640 approx) towards improving educational environments at the Seva Trust orphanage and the Peter Ustinov Committee agreed to support a community playground by donating €2600 for SIS to use in this project.
Most importantly, as noted by Igor Ustinov, “The awards recognise not only the work of SIS secondary students in Goa, Morocco and elsewhere, but also the awards salute the remarkable work of the early childhood and primary school teachers who have clearly helped foster a deep and meaningful sense of global citizenship within the school.”
We are delighted to receive recognition of the very important solidarity projects in which the SIS community has been involved for the last seven years. These two awards will assist us in providing lasting solutions to helping those in need in Goa.
SIS obtiene dos prestigiosos galardones
El viernes 20 de noviembre, David Batten recibió en representación de nuestro centro, dos prestigiosos galardones durante la Conferencia del Consejo Europeo de Colegios Internacionales (European Council of International Schools, ECIS) celebrada en Hamburgo. En la ceremonia de inauguración, se reconoció la aportación de SIS a la educación internacional y al servicio social mediante dos galardones: el `ECIS Outreach Award´ y el `Peter Ustinov Foundation Award´.
En particular, tras la presentación de un informe sobre nuestras actividades en Goa, el Outreach Committee del European Council of International Schools (ECIS) acordó apoyar el proyecto de Goa mediante un donativo de 2.370 libras esterlinas (unos 2.640€) destinados a la mejora del entorno educativo del orfanato Seva Trust, asimismo el Peter Ustinov Committee acordó apoyar la construcción de una zona de juegos comunitaria donando 2.600€ a SIS para su aplicación a este proyecto.
Más importante aún, tal y como resaltó Igor Ustinov, “Estos galardones no sólo reconocen el trabajo de los alumnos de secundaria en Goa, Marruecos y otros lugares, sino también la extraordinaria labor de los profesores tanto de Educación Infantil como de Primaria que sin duda han ayudado a fomentar un profundo y significativo sentido de ciudadanía global dentro del colegio”.
Nos sentimos muy orgullosos de recibir este reconocimiento por parte de los proyectos solidarios con los que la comunidad de SIS ha estado colaborando durante los últimos siete años. Estos dos galardones nos ayudarán a proporcionar soluciones permanentes para ayudar a las personas necesitadas en Goa.
