IB Diploma results – Class of 2011

Many congratulations go the SIS Graduating Class of 2011 who achieved excellent IB diploma results

There were some truly outstanding individual results with five people obtaining 40 or more points (nearly 20% of the class).

• Rio Jones and Alex Martin – 44 (equaling our best-ever individual score, equivalent to 5A*s or 6As at A-Level)
• David Eriksen – 42 points
• Stella Schuck – 41 points (equivalent to 5As at A-Level)
• Yaroslav Loginov – 40 points

Overall the Class of 2011 obtained an average diploma score of 32 points (equivalent to 3A*s in A-Level) and average subject score of 5 – both highly commendable. They obtained particularly good results in Languages, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Theatre and Visual Arts.

All our IB students continue to gain places at top quality universities, mainly in UK and Spain, with all students who applied gaining a university place, at a time when entry to higher education courses is very competitive. Very special congratulations also go to Rio Jones and Stella Schuck who now have confirmed places at one of the world’s top universities, University of Oxford (Hertford College).

IB Middle Years Programme results – Class of 2011

Our second cohort of IB Middle Years Programme students matched the previous year with another set of outstanding results, with an average MYP score of 47.3 out of 63. In an impressive achievement, 46% of all results were the top grades of 6 and 7, (equivalent to A and A* at IGCSE) and 91% achieved grades 4-7 (equivalent to IGCSE A*-C). There were some exceptional individual results with Elizabeth Waterous obtaining the superb score of 61 points out of 63 (equivalent to nearly  9A*s at I/GCSE) and Robert Duckworth and Jessica Hodgson obtaining 60 points.

Indeed thirteen students achieved the excellent total score of 56 or more out of 63, they are:

In an excellent indicator for future success in the IB diploma, all of our top 20 students from this cohort have chosen to remain at SIS for the diploma. This is our best ever retention rate of top students and means we have a very strong group moving into D1.
